ALAN J. KLEVAN is a principal of Klevan & Klevan, LLP. He concentrates his practice in the fields of workers’ compensation automobile tort law, and general negligence law.
For the past nine years, Alan has been working with a practice management coach, focusing on balancing his professional and personal life. Through the use of both a philosophical approach to the business of practicing law, as well as utilizing present and emerging technologies, Alan has set up a practice which has allowed him to achieve this balance. In order to share his knowledge with other attorneys seeking to strive towards a more efficient practice, he formed Law Practice Strategies, a legal consulting firm dedicated to assisting attorneys move towards building a more efficient and profitable law practice.
Since 2005, Alan has focused on how existing and emerging technologies would allow him to practice more efficiently and effectively. He is believed to have developed one of the first “less-paper” practices in Massachusetts, utilizing electronic media to file, organize, and deliver documents. Besides the cost savings of such implementation, time is significantly reduced, both savings clearly to his clients’ benefit. Alan also uses his technological advantages in all aspects of litigation, including Depositions, court hearings, arbitrations and mediations, using a combination of live internet, Powerpoint and additional legal tools to present his case with ease and efficiency. It is through the use of these tools that Alan is able to receive maximum benefits for his clients.
Alan presently serves as Co-Chair of the Education Committee of the Massachusetts Bar Association and also sits on its Executive Management Board, Strategic Planning Committee, and the House of Delegates. He is a frequent lecturer for the Massachusetts Bar Association and other organizations, educating attorneys, students, and law firm administrators on a variety of topics.
In August of 2009, the American Bar Association’s General Practice, Solo and Small Firm Division awarded him its “Solo and Small Firm Trainer of the Year Award” for his contribution to educating lawyers and law students about the opportunities of a small and small firm practice.
Alan lives in Newton, Massachusetts, with his wife and law partner, Bryna, along with their four children. In his spare time, Alan is coach of his children’s little league baseball and softball teams, as well as serving as Vice President of Temple Reyim in Newton.
